Abstract

Abstract— Reductions in treatment costs in the South Australian School Dental Service attributed to water fluoridation were compared with fluoridation costs. Before making comparisons, costs and savings were adjusted to constant denominators by processes of deflation and application of social discount rates. It was evident that after seven to eleven years of fluoridation, treatment‐cost savings would exceed costs of fluoridation. 1980 Australian Dental Association
