Ziad completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne where he worked on optimising haplotype phasing for more accurate genetic investigations. His experience involves bioinformatics, machine learning, software engineering and GPU programming. Ziad has worked on several research problems, including haplotype phasing, genotype imputation, expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL), genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and the three-dimensional structure of the genome. He also worked in the industry as a software developer.
