Dr. Sean Martin (BSc(Hons), PhD) is an epidemiologist and current NHMRC ECR Fellow whose principal research interests centre on the intersection between urological disorders and other chronic diseases, including mental health. He is the Research Lead within the Urological Research Group at the Freemasons Foundation Centre for Male Health & Wellbeing (University of Adelaide). Dr. Martin also holds affiliate positions with the South Australian Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and the New England Research Institutes (Boston).

Dr. Martin recently returned from a Fulbright fellowship where he completed his postdoctoral training, including work on NIH-funded projects examining health disparities in urological care. His doctoral studies focussed on modifiable predictors of sexual and urinary dysfunction, receiving a Dean’s Commendation. Prior to his academic career he served as a project manager for the Florey Adelaide Male Ageing Study (FAMAS). He has also collaborated extensively across a range of topics. As an ECR, he has published 68 peer-reviewed journal articles and given over 80 presentations, including plenaries, at local, national, and international conferences, receiving multiple awards.

Dr. Martin has been a named investigator on $1.1 million in competitive research funding, providing >$800,000 as CIA from a variety of sources including industry and is the recipient of multiple prestigious awards and fellowships (Fulbright Scholar, Endeavour Fellowship, NHMRC ECR, Heart Foundation Fellowship). Dr. Martin also has extensive policy experience with SA Health, serving on 3 scientific advisory boards. He has refereed for over 30 scientific journals, and currently acts as an associate editor for BMC Public Health.
