A/Prof Carson-Chahhoud is an Associate Research Professor/NHMRC ECR Fellow and lead of the Translational Medicine and Technology Group within the the Australian Centre for Precision Health at UniSA. Her broad research interests include: translational health research, evidence-based medicine, use of novel technologies such as augmented reality, holographic technology and virtual reality, respiratory medicine, Aboriginal health and tobacco avoidance. A/Prof Carson-Chahhoud has extensive experience producing evidence through Cochrane systematic analyses, qualitative research and randomised controlled trials. However, she places greater emphasis on what happens to research evidence after it is produced, through dissemination of information into policy, practice and for the public. She is also passionate about encouraging the next generation of researchers and making a real-world impact through her research.

A/Prof Carson-Chahhoud is or has been: an Associate Editor of the Cochrane Airways Group, invited member of the National Best Practice Unit for Tackling Indigenous Smoking Working Group, Executive Member of the SA/NT branch of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ), invited member of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee for the Asthma Foundation of South Australia, Local Organising Committee member for both the 2017 Australasian Asthma Conference and the 2018 TSANZ conference, elected chairperson for the national TSANZ Evidence-Based Medicine Special Interest Group and Tobacco and Addictive Substances Special Interest Group.

She has received many titles including: Young Australian of the Year for SA, Premier’s Channel 9 Young Achiever of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and named One of Australia's 100 Women of Influence. A/Prof Carson-Chahhoud has held consecutive NHMRC fellowships, produced over 60 peer-reviewed publications, co-authored over 100 conference abstracts, received over two dozen research awards and received $4.48 million in competitive research funding, despite only completing her PhD in December 2015 (obtaining the Dean's Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence).
