Public Profile

Dr Bensalem completed his PhD specialised in Nutrition in 2014 at the University of Bordeaux working on the effect of polyphenols on the age-related cognitive decline in mice. He also completed a Master degree in Neuroscience during which he developed his competencies in cell biology and animal behaviour. After his PhD, he worked as research project manager in a company developing new nutritional plant extracts targeting specific health applications. At the same time, he was working as a postdoc in the NutriNeuro lab in Bordeaux allowing him to pursue his PhD work on polyphenols and cognition with a clinical trial. Since April 2018 he has a post-doctoral position at SAHMRI in the Hopwood Centre for Neurobiology where his new project focuses on the effect of nutrition on the Alzheimer’s disease pathology and the relationship with autophagy.
