Dr Jason Armfield is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of South Australia’s Australian Centre for Precision Health (ACPreH). Jason has a background in Psychology and received his PhD in dentistry, investigating the causes, characteristics and consequences of dental anxiety. He has been awarded an NHMRC Public Health (Overseas) Early Career Fellowship (2009-2013) and a NHMRC Career Development Fellowship (2013-2018). Between 2009 and 2011 he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Prior to joining UniSA, he was an Associate Professor at the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health at the University of Adelaide, working in a research capacity for just over two decades. He has published over 90 scientific journal articles, 6 book chapters, and dozens of government reports as part of a collaborating unit of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. Currently, he is working with Professor Leonie Segal on a NHMRC-funded project investigating the consequences of child protection system involvement.
