Gloria Mejia is Senior Public Health Officer at the South Australian Aboriginal Chronic Disease Consortium. She began her career as a social service dentist in rural Colombia and later worked in academia and research in Colombia, the United States and Australia. Gloria first came to Australia as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health (ARCPOH) at the University of Adelaide where she also held appointments as Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer in Population Oral Health. She was Assistant Professor at the University of California San Francisco and East Carolina University, USA, and Senior Research Fellow at the University of South Australia. Gloria continues to hold an adjunct position with the Adelaide Dental School. She has vast cross-disciplinary expertise in quantitative and qualitative research and experience in research translation and implementation. Her research combines dentistry, public health and epidemiology and focuses measuring, monitoring and evaluating strategies to address health and health care inequities.
