Dr Liu Ge brings expertise in biochemistry to this group. He has considerable experience in isolation and analysis of bioactive chemical constituents using sophisticated techniques such as gas and liquid chromatography (GC, HPLC) as well as mass spectrometry. He has also worked for large pharmaceutical companies, developing and optimising manufacturing processes for various pharmaceutical products.
He was awarded his PhD in November 2013. His PhD research at the University of Adelaide led to the development of a patent in determining the omega-3 fatty acid status from capillary dried blood spot. He worked in Foodplus Research Centre (The University of Adelaide) as a postdoctoral researcher, and a principal scientist in Waite Lipid Analysis Service (https://www.adelaide.edu.au/foodplus/research/lipid-analysis).
Dr Liu has a major research interest in investigating the role and mechanism of n-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid and their bioactive metabolites in early life nutrition.
